“Doing it scared is still doing it, and that’s courageous.”

My story has always been about my unapologetic belief that doing it scared is still doing it, and that is courageous. As an Iowa farm kid and the youngest of 16 children, grit and ingenuity went hand in hand. I first said f*ck fear when I ran away from home midway through my senior year of high school. Putting myself through the University of Texas by juggling jobs as a bartender, children’s gymnastics instructor, and nanny, I kept walking forward, refusing to give up. To give you a sneak peek into who I am, I showed up for a boxing workout because I was told I wouldn’t be able to make it through. I then went on to become a professional boxer before it was cool.
I couldn’t imagine how apropos those jobs were in preparing me for my 29+ year career in the corporate world. Some days you’re a nanny, and some days you throw that right hook. I even survived over 13 years in a Big 4 environment—doing that while being dyslexic with numbers was no small feat. So there I was, from farm kid to boardroom, I was successful—but I was also successfully unhappy and not even close to being fulfilled.
At age 53, I finally pulled the trigger. As I put it in the exit interview, when asked why I was leaving, I simply said, "I don’t want to be here anymore." Once again, I said, "F*ck Fear!" and chose to create a path to something fulfilling. When I didn’t find a table of fulfillment, I built my own and claimed the head seat—founding HBIC Advisors. Yes, Head Bitch In Charge. Not of you, but of ME! I’m in charge of my life, my successes, my mistakes, and most importantly, my happiness.
Now, I have one mission: to help other successful yet unfulfilled professionals—especially women—channel their inner "I’ve got this sh*t covered" attitude to pivot, design their blueprint, execute, and then take their rightful seat at their table of fulfillment. It’s time to stop accepting what society tells us success looks like, and even more importantly, to stop settling for the limiting stories we tell ourselves about what we deserve. Being an HBIC means harnessing audacity, boldness, and relentless action to build the career you want including getting paid your worth.
As a speaker, I bring my I’m-allergic-to-BS, no-nonsense corporate wisdom, sharp, practical insights, and an uncanny ability to cut through life’s complexities to help the audience focus on what truly matters to them. After hearing me speak, my audiences literally say 'F*ck Fear!' and boldly pivot, taking action towards creating more fulfilling professional lives. After all, in the corporate world, margin is everything and everyone knows that Fulfillment Maximizes Margin.
Remember - “Don’t try to ‘age with grace’—age with mischief, audacity, and a good story to tell.” Let’s create a story they won’t forget!
